The
Borzoi Connection is a quarterly
magazine, published for individual subscribers and
members of Borzoi clubs world wide.
Background: In the mid 1990's, when the cost of producing individual
Borzoi club magazines and newsletters in
North America was becoming prohibitive, the decision
was made to combine the club publications, which
would include advertisement by individuals of their
elegant Borzoi, into one quality, quarterly magazine
for all, to be known as the Borzoi Connection.
The magazine has evolved over the past years to the
very nice, quality product you see today. However,
in the intervening time, though the magazine itself
has been an undisputed success, there have been
issues, unforeseen in the beginning, concerning its
publication, costs, management, control, etc. Since
the health of our magazine is so important to all,
these issues need to be resolved. In order to
address these issues and further improve the
magazine and its management, it has been determined
that there is a need to implement some changes. In
this light, specifically, the goal is to make the
magazine operations more professional, to improve
content, with inputs from member clubs and
individuals, to reduce costs and to make the
management of the magazine more business-like.
As
a beginning, Joe Rogers, former president of the
Borzoi Club of America, and long-standing member of
several of our Borzoi clubs, has agreed to accept
the responsibility for the implementation of these
changes as the new General Manager of the Borzoi
Connection. In this position, he is charged
with being the guardian of the interests of all
participating Borzoi clubs and individual
subscribers.
The Magazine: The Borzoi Connection is not owned by one individual
or group of individuals, but is a product produced
jointly for the benefit of all Borzoi fanciers who
wish to support this cooperative effort. The
Borzoi Connection magazine includes The Borzoi
Club of America's "Aristocrat," and the
Borzoi Canada national Borzoi publication, as well
as the newsletters of regional Borzoi clubs in
North America. All Borzoi clubs from
around the world are invited to participate. The
Borzoi Connection is open to all Borzoi owners,
breeders and exhibitors, regardless of where they
live. There is no requirement to be a member of a
club to advertise or receive the publication,
however higher advertising and subscription rates
will be charged because the Borzoi Connection
is published as a service to various Borzoi clubs
and their memberships across the US and Canada. As
discussed above, this is to allow them to share club
newsletters and club news at a lesser cost.
You must belong to at least one participating
Borzoi club to receive the reduced advertising and
subscription rates. If you do not belong to a Borzoi
club currently, you may join one of our clubs, or
you may subscribe to the publication. See:
Member Clubs.
Other Business Considerations:
The Borzoi Connection, as indicated above, a
magazine for all the Borzoi fancy, is not meant to
be a profit making enterprise. The fact that it has
not made a profit during the previous years, does
not mean that it has gone wanting. The Borzoi Club
of America, the parent club for the Borzoi clubs in
the United States, through its Board of Directors,
monetarily subsidizes each quarterly issue to ensure
that there will not be an under-run in the
publishing/distribution costs. Each participating
club pays a set price for their officer and board
masthead/logo page, and there is a cost for each
additional page, should it be needed, for the clubs'
membership information and news items. Club members
and other subscribers also pay for their individual
advertisements for each issue. If, in the future,
the Borzoi Connection begins to do better
monetarily and does start to make a profit, these
profits will be reinvested into the Borzoi
Connection for its betterment.
The Borzoi Connection is a Limited
Liability Company (LLC) within the state of Texas. The LLC, under Texas law, is
neither a corporation nor a partnership; rather it
is a distinct type of entity. It is governed by
Title 1, chapter 101, of the Texas Business
Organizations Code (BOC). Further information
concerning the LLC may be obtained by contacting the
General Manager (See: Home Page or E-mail:
manager@borzoiconnection.com).
Conclusion: The Borzoi Connection is and will continue to be a
dedicated journal for the enjoyment of the Borzoi
fancy. This web site, web hosting, all designs,
layouts and graphics are donated. A sincere thank
you for all who have donated their time, means and
energy for the love of Borzoi and the enjoyment of
the Borzoi Connection.
